As you may have noticed, the button images on the website for both menus have been changed. The old ones were badly done and looked out of place. I think the new ones look much better, so leave a comment with your opinion. I have also started a Battle Archive. All rap battles (both text and audio) will be put up there. I've started it already, by including old battles we had back at SilverMics. If you wanna check it out, there's a link in the nav bar and the menu, or you can just click here.
Legendary battle rapper The Saurus took a loss to Madness in Orlando a few months ago. A rematch was sure to happen, and it caused a lot of hype. Finally, that rematch is here. Less than an hour ago, Drect of Grind Time posted the new battle on YouTube. The Saurus came prepared (and his voice worked), and Madness held it down too. The battle was quite close, but eventually Saurus took the win, making his record with Madness, 1-1. Another rematch should occur eventually to settle it. My money's on The Saurus.
DMX was arrested by Miami P.D. outside a WalMart in Miami this afternoon -- and we're told it was all over an outstanding warrant he has in AriZona. That warrant stems from a court date he missed earlier this week in AZ, where the rapper was supposed to face a judge over drug charges. His lawyer, Charles Kozelka, tells TMZ he was literally in the process of working out a self-surrender when X was popped.
“Lupe Fiasco's The Cool,” the chart-topping second album from 1st & 15th/Atlantic recording artist Lupe Fiasco, has been certified gold by the RIAA for sales exceeding 500,000. The critically acclaimed album – which features the hit singles, “Superstar (Feat. Matthew Santos)” and “Hip-Hop Saved My Life (Feat. Nikki Jean)” –debuted on Billboard’s “Top Rap Albums” chart at #1 upon its December 2007 release, and remained in the peak position for nine weeks.
In February, the Chicago-based MC earned his first-ever Grammy Award, bringing home the “Best Urban/Alternative Performance” trophy for last year’s smash, “Daydreamin’ (Feat. Jill Scott).” The track is now being featured in AT&T’s national “Celebrate Spring” ad campaign.

A court-appointed receiver for an entertainment group filed a lawsuit against Paris Hilton and her company Tuesday, alleging she owes $75,000 in damages for not fulfilling repeated requests to appear on talk shows and do interviews to promote a movie she was in. The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court in Miami on behalf of Worldwide Entertainment Group Inc. and its entities. Hilton entered into an agreement in 2004 for the production and distribution of a motion picture titled "National Lampoon's Pledge This!," according to the lawsuit. The group said it paid the heiress and her company, Paris Hilton Entertainment Inc., $1 million to "furnish Hilton's acting services" and have her provide "reasonable promotion and publicity" for the movie.
The group alleges in the lawsuit that Hilton did not satisfy her obligations.
A message left for Hilton's publicist, Lori Glass Berk, was not immediately returned. Worldwide is a Delaware corporation that serves artists and the entertainment industry. The company's main offices are in Miami Beach.
Amy Winehouse is threatening to release a James Bond theme song at the same time Alicia Keys and Jack White plan to release theirs.
Winehouse was originally touted to record the song but the film’s producers decided to go in a different direction following her very public battle with alcohol and drug abuse.
Winehouse tells New Magazine she wanted to “prove that they (film’s producers) have made a big mistake” by not selecting her as the voice for the new theme song of Quantum Of Solace.
“I do think they could have waited a bit,” she said. “If they want a worldwide hit, I have them all up here [pointing to her head].”
Winehouse goes on to call Keys and White’s music flat. “I guess they are going for clean-cut and boring. When I do release mine - and I am tempted to do it on the same day - this would be the bigger hit. If they change their minds, I’m waiting!”
